Steve Hutchinson was born on November 1, 1977 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He played college football at Michigan for four seasons before being selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 17th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
Hutchinson was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings on March 31, 2006 when Seattle declined to match an offer sheet extended to him by the Vikings.

2007: Steve Hutchinson was selected to the AP All-Pro 1st team, marking his 5th year of selection. He also got a 5th straight Pro Bowl berth. The 2007 season also marked Steve Hutchinson's 100th career game.
Steve Hutchinson had played in four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2003-2006. A three time All-Pro honoree by the Associated Press. Helped the Seattle offense rank in the top ten from 2003-05. Paved the way for Shaun Alexander’s MVP award, as Hutchinson helped him rush for 1,880 yards and an NFL record 28 touchdowns in 2005. Was a starter in Super Bowl XL. 2006: Received his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl invite. Named the NFL Alumni’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. Helped Chester Taylor run for his 1,214 yards on the season. 2005: Garnered 1st-Team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press and his third straight trip to the Pro Bowl. College
Steve Hutchinson is only the second player in Michigan history to earn All-Big Ten honors four times along with DT Mark Messner, who played from 1985-88. Was a 1st-Team All-American as a junior and senior. Was also awarded freshman All-American honors in 1997.

Steve Hutchinson was a standout lineman at Coral Springs High School in Florida. Was a 2nd-Team All-USA choice by the USA Today. Was also captain of the basketball team.
