Richard Owens was born on November 4, 1980 and calls his hometown Middleburg, Florida. Played four years of college football at Louisville before being signed by the Minnesota Vikings on May 3, 2004 as an undrafted rookie free agent.

2006: Richard Owens caught his first career touchdown on a pass from none other than kicker Ryan Longwell on a fake field goal versus Carolina on September 17. Played in all 16 games. 2005: Played in all 16 games and started two. Led the team with 22 special teams tackles. 2004: Started two of eight games he started in. Caught his first career pass as he made three catches for 36 yards against Philadelphia on September 20.
