Martin Nance was born on May 26, 1983 and calls his hometown Maryland Heights, Missouri. Played college football at Miami (Ohio) and entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Buffalo Bills before the 2006 season. Joined the Minnesota Vikings practice squad after final cuts in 2006 training camp.

Martin Nance played and started in his first career game vs. St. Louis on December 31 and made four catches. Was activated for his first game on the Vikings regular roster at Green Bay on December 21, but was inactive. Did not see playing time in 2007.

Martin Nance played an outstanding sophomore season at Miami (Ohio) when he earned All-Mid America Conference honors, but battled injuries during his final two seasons in college. His sophomore season included school records in 90 catches and 1,498 yards while ranking fourth in the nation in receiving yards per game with 107.
