Josh Day was born on December 15, 1983 in Denver, Colorado. He attended Overland High School where he was named all-conference and all-state in his senior year. SuperPrep ranked him as the No. 8 lineman in the Midland region. Besides football, Day also competed in track and field as a thrower.

Josh Day redshirted his first year at Colorado State, but came back in 2003 to play on the squad team and earn a varsity letter. In 2004 he made his first career start at Colorado State and ended up starting all 11 games for the Rams. Day’s junior season earned him an honorable mention all-conference as he continued starting consistently on Colorado State’s offensive line. Josh Day’s senior year saw him named to the preseason all-MWC second team by Lindy’s and Athlon Sports and named the No. 20 guard in the country by The Sporting News.

Josh Day was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings on May 3, 2007.
