Personal and College
Jimmy Kennedy hails from Yonkers, New York. He played college ball for the Penn State Nittany Lions and was a All-Big Ten First Team honoree and Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year. The Walter Camp Foundation named Jimmy Kennedy as an All-American and he was also recognized as an All-Big Ten 1st-Team honorable mention during his junior season with Penn State.
NFL
After college, Jimmy Kennedy entered the NFL in 2003 with the St. Louis Rams. He played in 13 games during his first year. Jimmy Kennedy stayed on with the St. Louis Rams for the next several seasons, weathering a foot injury, collecting more and more playing time, and eventually starting the majority of games.
In 2007, Jimmy Kennedy played for the Chicago Bears in three games toward the end of the season. In 2008, he played 6 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars before being released and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings in December 2008.
