Heath Farwell
Heath Farwell was born on December 31, 1981 in Corona, California. Farwell went to San Diego State and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent before the 2005 season. 2007: Heath Farwell was again selected by Minnesota Vikings teammates as the Viking Special Teams MVP. He also was the second Minnesota Vikings player in the team's history to recover a pair of onside kicks in a single season. Heath Farwell scored a career-best 32 special teams tackles by the season's end. 2006: Heath Farwell led the Vikings with 25 special teams tackles and played in all 16 games of the season. He pounced on his first career fumble recovery on special teams against the Arizona Cardinals on November 26. 2005: Was only second to Dovonte Edwards in special teams tackles with 16 as a rookie. Began the season on the practice squad and eventually moved up to be a special teams standout. He made his NFL debut versus Green Bay on October 23 and played in seven straight games before being sidelined with an injury against Detroit on December 4. Tallied a season-high four tackles on special teams at the New York Giants on November 13. He also led the way for two special team touchdowns in the same game: Mewelde Moore’s punt return and Koren Robinson’s kickoff return. College Heath Farwell transferred from San Jose State to San Diego State following the 2000 season. 2000: Played 12 games as a true freshman for the San Jose State Trojans. The linebacker made 10 tackles on the season and recovered a fumble against powerhouse USC. Farwell also blocked a punt and was awarded with team freshman of the year honors. 2001: Farwell transferred after the 2000 season and was forced to redshirt this year. 2002: In his first season of action at San Diego State, Heath Farwell ranked fifth on the team with 59 tackles. The linebacker got to the quarterback three times for sacks, ranking fourth in the MWC among linebackers. He made eight tackles in one game versus UCLA. Farwell’s four forced fumbles were tops in the Mountain West in 2002. 2003: Heath Farwell started six games at outside linebacker and finished the season with 52 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Made eight tackles versus Utah. 2004: Farwell started all 11 games for the Aztecs and was third on the team with 69 tackles. He led the team with seven sacks and ripped two interceptions with four forced fumbles on his way to defensive MVP, Special Teams Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-Mountain West Conference honors. Heath Farwell’s collegiate career numbers include 180 tackles, 13.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles in only three seasons at San Diego State. Heath Farwell attended Corona High in California and was a defensive MVP there. His senior year included 129 tackles and 10 sacks on his way to first-team All-Mountain View League honors.
