Greg Blue was born on March 12, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia. He started 28 games at Georgia in the 49 games he played in including the final 25 games of his career. The safety finished his college career with 260 tackles including 189 solo tackles, a 10-yard sack, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 13 quarterback hurries. He made two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and forced two fumbles. Blue was named a semi-finalist for the Jim Thorpe award in his senior season, an award that is given to the nation’s top defensive back. Blue was recognized as first-team All-American by Walter Camp, Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association and the Sporting News in 2005. He was first-team All-SEC by recognition of the AP and SEC Coaches as a senior. His senior class at Georgia compiled 44 wins over four years, the most by any class in Georgia history.

Greg Blue was drafted into the NFL in 2006 by the Minnesota Vikings in the 5th round. He started his first career game he played in the 2006 opener at Washington on September 11, 2006. His second career start came versus Green Bay on November 12. He had two tackles for loss versus St. Louis on December 31.

Greg Blue graduated with a degree in child and family development from Georgia and resides in Atlanta. In high school, Blue attended Banneker in College Park, Georgia and was named one of the top 25 safeties in the country by Student Sports Magazine. Blue notched 89 tackles, 6 forced fumbles, 4 interceptions, and 14 passes deflected as a senior in high school. He also had an 88-yard kickoff return for a TD and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.
