Drew Henson was born on February 13, 1980 in Brighton, Michigan. He attended Michigan and played three years of college football for the Wolverines before being drafted by the Houston Texans in the 6th round of the 2003 NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings signed Henson on March 14, 2007 to their practice squad.
NFL
2006: Inactive. 2005: Was the Dallas Cowboy’s third string quarterback. 2004: Drew Henson was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys from the Houston Texans and made his NFL debut against Baltimore on November 21 when he replaced Vinny Testaverde in the fourth quarter. Made first NFL start on Thanksgiving Day versus Chicago.
College
Drew Henson played three years at Michigan, completing 214-of-374 passes for 2,946 yards and 24 touchdowns. Set a school record for lowest career interception percentage at 1.87. Gained honorable mention All-Big Ten honors his junior year after posting 2,146 yards and eighteen touchdowns with only four interceptions. Earned All-Big Ten and Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement honors as a sophomore. Backed up Tom Brady and threw for 546 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. As a freshman, Henson played in eight games and completed 21 passes for 254 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
Personal
Drew Henson attended Brighton, Michigan, High School where he ranked second all-time in Michigan high school history in passing yards (5,662), career touchdown passes (52) and single-season touchdown passes (26 in 1997). Was a Parade All-American at quarterback and a USA Today All-America selection at punter as a senior. Was a football and basketball player. Was USA Today Player of the Year and Baseball America 1998 High School Player of the Year for baseball.
