Cortez Hankton was born on January 20, 1981 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hankton attended Texas Southern University before playing his first year in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings on April 16, 2007.

NFL

2006: Cortez Hankton played in 12 games at the wide receiver position for the Jaguars and started one of them. He made five receptions on the season for 48 yards with a long of 15 yards. 2005: Season was limited to six games while making three catches for 15 yards. 2004: Played in 12 games and made nine catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Had the game-winning touchdown against Kansas City on October 17. 2003: Saw action in all 16 games as an undrafted rookie. He had 17 catches for 166 yards, tying him for sixth on the team.

College

Cortez Hankton was a three-year starter at Southern Texas and had finished with 175 catches for 3,400 yards and 30 touchdowns over his career. He was starter in every game as a senior while catching 64 passes for 1,270 yards and 13 touchdowns. Set a school record by catching a least one touchdown in 10 consecutive games. Was a team leader his junior season by catching 61 balls for 941 yards and nine touchdowns.

Cortez Hankton attended St. Augustine High School in New Orleans where he played both football and track.
