Chester Taylor was born on September 22, 1979 and calls his hometown River Rouge, Michigan. Played four years of college football at Toledo before being picked in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Acquired by the Minnesota Vikings through free agency in 2006.

NFL

2008: Chester Taylor had a great season and secured his status as a top Minnesota Viking player. He had a career-best season by completing 45 catches. He also broke his former career-high by accumulating 399 receiving yards. In a memorable Monday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints, Chester Taylor threw the first touchdown pass of his career: he lobbed a 4-yarder to teammate Visanthe Shiancoe.

2007: Chester Taylor was on fire and an absolute fan favorite after his 2007 season with the Minnesota Vikings. Chester Taylor contributed to the top rushing yard total in Vikings history against the San Diego Chargers with 378 yards. Chester Taylor made a power combination with Adrian Peterson, who together set a Minnesota Vikings record with 2,185 rushing yards. Additionally, Chester Taylor recorded his career-best 5.4 yard rushing average, which also became the third best average in Vikings history.

2006: Chester Taylor rushed for the fourth highest single-season rushing total in Vikings history with 1,214 yards as a featured back. Set the Vikings franchise record with 304 rushing attempts. Had a career-best 169 yards against Seattle on October 22, including a Vikings record 95-yard touchdown run. 2005: Backed up Jamal Lewis in Baltimore. Had a 41 receptions. Had 186 all-purpose yard at Denver on December 11. 2004: Started four games and finished with 714 rushing yards. Averaged 91.7 yards per game in his four starts. 2003: Played in all 16 games and started one game. Saw first playoff action of career against Tennessee on January 3, 2004: Scored his first rushing touchdown at Cincinnati on October 19 on a two yard run. 2002: Played in all sixteen games as a rookie. Started his first career game versus Tennessee on November 24.

College

Chester Taylor ran for over 1,000 yards in each of his final three seasons. His 1,492 yards as a senior put him at seventh in the nation, and landed him as runner-up for the Mid-America Conference Player of the Year award. Was MVP of the North team in the Hula Bowl.

Personal

Chester Taylor has a BA in sports management from Toledo. Junior season in high school included 1,180 yards rushing.
