Chandler Williams was born on August 9, 1985 in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami Senior High School and earned eight varsity letter awards including three in football, two in basketball and track and one in badminton. In football, Williams was named the team’s offensive MVP in both his junior and senior year, his junior as a wideout and his senior year as a quarterback. His junior year numbers included 36 receptions for 578 yards. His senior quarterbacking numbers included 88 of 209 passes for 890 yards and 300 rushing yards.
Chandler Williams played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2003 at Florida International, but only started once. He was able to catch 29 passes for 460 yards and two touchdowns. In 2004, he got his games started number up to three while playing in another 10 contests. He would finish second on the team with 46 catches for 525 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned kickoffs for 412 yards on 19 tries.
In his junior year, Williams played in the flanker spot for Florida International. He led the team and ranked second in the league with 61 receptions for 870 yards and two touchdowns. His senior year numbers included a career-high 67 catches for 664 yards, but had just one touchdown. He returned four punts for a solid average of 21.5 yards and a touchdown and got 130 yards on seven kickoff returns.
In 41 career games, Chandler Williams started in 24 of them. He set the school career record with 203 receptions and was second in school history with 2,519 yards, including eight touchdowns. He returned six total punts for 90 yards and a score, with 542 yards on 26 career kickoff returns.
Chandler Williams was selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft with the 233rd overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings.
