More Info
Brooks Bollinger was born on November 15, 1979 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended the University of Wisconsin. He was awarded with the Big Ten Rookie of the Year in 1999, and went on to a record-setting collegiate career. When he left Wisconsin, he held the rushing record by a quarterback with 1,767 yards and 26 touchdowns. Bollinger is second in career Wisconsin passing only to current Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, throwing for 5,627 yards and 38 touchdowns. The quarterback had great success in bowl games, going 3-0. He beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl, UCLA in the 2000 Sun Bowl and Colorado in the 2002 Alamo Bowl. His career record at Wisconsin was 30-12.

Brooks Bollinger’s NFL highlights include a first career touchdown pass to Jerald Sowell versus San Diego on November 6, 2005. His first NFL win as a starter came versus Oakland on December 11, 2005 while filling in for Vinny Testaverde. He set the New York Jets franchise record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 56 on 6 carries in the same game. His 60-yard touchdown pass to Jets tight end Doug Jolley on December 18 was the longest pass completed by the Jets in 2005. Bollinger was part of the 2004 Jets team who went 10-6 and lost to eventual Super Bowl XL champions Pittsburgh in an overtime thriller.

In the 2006 season, Brooks Bollinger saw his first action since 2005 when he relieved Brad Johnson versus New England on October 22. The game saw him make six completions on nine attempts for 76 yards. Bollinger also relieved Johnson on December 3 against the Bears, completing seven of nine passes before coming out of the game with a shoulder injury.

Brooks Bollinger had great success as a prep at Central High in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He threw for 40 career touchdowns and ran for 19, starting every game for the team from ninth grade on. While at Wisconsin he was able to earn his degree in history. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2000 even though he hadn’t played baseball since high school. Bollinger was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings in a trade with the New York Jets on August 31, 2006 in exchange DT C.J. Mosley and a draft pick.

In 2007, Brooks Bollinger served as a back-up for starters Tarvaris Jackson and Kelly Holcomb. The Minnesota Vikings put Brooks Bollinger into 5 games over the 2007 season with 1 start. We'll see how Brad Childress places Brooks Bollinger after acquiring new quarterbacks Gus Frerotte and Kyle Wright.
