Brian Robison was born on April 28, 1983 in Houston. He attended high school at Splendora in Texas. Robison starred in both football and track and field in high school. He started his freshman year at defensive tackle and the final three years of high school at linebacker. As a senior in high school, Robison notched 98 tackles, 20 stops for losses, eight sacks and four pass deflections.
Brian Robison enrolled at Texas in 2002 and spent the season on the scout team competing for a spot as an inside linebacker. In 2003, Robison started three of 13 games at inside linebacker and made 38 tackles with a sack and three stops for losses. He also tied a single-season school record by blocking four kicks. In 2004, Robison shifted positions to the right defensive end. There, he posted 48 tackles with 1 ½ sacks and 15 stops for losses. He also forced three fumbles.
In 49 games at Texas, Robison started 36 games, three at inside linebacker and 33 at right end. He compiled 181 tackles including 106 solo tackles, 15 sacks and 41 stops for losses totaling 171 yards. He also had 57 quarterback pressures, and eight pass deflections. He caused four fumbles and recovered two. He blocked six kicks.
Brian Robison was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings with the 102nd overall pick. He started the last four games of the 2007 season and the week 2 game versus the Detroit Lions. By the end of the 2007 season, Brian Robison ranked third among NFL rookies with 4.5 acks. Brian Robison should see more playing time in 2008 now that he was NFL experience and a great one-season record under his belt.
