![]() Minnesota Vikings Training CampVikings training camp is always an exciting time for Vikings players and fans. The Minnesota Vikings have recently released their 2008 Vikings Training Camp schedule. The schedule includes two night practices and plenty of opportunities for Minnesota Vikings fans to watch their team in action. The Minnesota Vikings will also be hosting autograph sessions, football clinics and cheerleading clinics hosted by the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders. Last year over 50,000 Vikings fans headed to Mankato to see the purple and gold, you can bet at least that many fans will be watching this summer.
Minnesota Vikings players will report to camp on July 23rd with their first open practice on July 25th - that's only 5 weeks away! Vikings team passionate, Vikings fans ecstaticThe Minnesota Vikings have "passion" this year according to head coach Brad Childress. Speaking during one of the Vikings mini camp workouts, Childress made comments on how hard this particular group of guys have been working and how quickly the team is learning and developing.
Vikings fans have enjoyed watching the clips on the local nightly news and it's true that Vikings fever is at an all time high in the Twin Cities. Vikings ManiaTom Powers from the Pioneer Press wrote: "Vikings Mania is nearly out of control. One year after generating zero offseason excitement, Vikings buzz is the official background noise of the Twin Cities."
He is right! The Minnesota Vikings are all the talk in the Twin Cities and you can bet Vikings Tickets will be a sought after commodity this season. In fact, we have already sold more Vikings pre-season tickets this year vs. last year at this time. Vikings fans will want to scoop up tickets early because if the team gets on a winning streak, Vikings tickets prices will only go up! Buy Vikings Tickets now! Minnesota Vikings receivers keep feet in bounds The Minnesota Vikings wide receivers will have to get used to a new NFL rule next year. The NFL has announced that it is changing the force out rule to read that the receiver must have two feet in bounds in order for the catch to be complete, no exceptions. Before the new rule was passed in April, a wide receiver could be credited with a catch if he was forced out of bounds before having an opportunity to get his feet down, but not anymore!
Vikings receivers Sidney Rice and Bernard Berrian have been conscientiously practicing the new rule during organized team activities. Both receivers know that fancy footwork is now essential in bringing down those passes in the back end zone. Tarvaris Jackson warming up his armThe Minnesota Vikings organized team activities have begun and new wide receiver Bernard Berrian has been taking passes from Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, a lot of passes. The two hope to build strong chemistry before and during Vikings training camp so they can come out firing on all cylinders. The Minnesota Vikings hope to come out with a strong offense come August and they know that having a solid passing game is essential to their success. Vikings fans, be ready for this purple and gold team to come out stronger than ever. Go Vikings!
Pat Williams excited about Vikings DefenseDefensive tackle Pat Williams is fired up for the 2008 Vikings season. Williams is particularly excited about the addition of Jared Allen to the Minnesota Vikings defense. Williams is quoted as saying, "It's going to be a fun year for me because they've got to slide towards Kevin [Williams] and Jared," Williams said. "They'll leave me one on one with the center, so I can beat him to death the whole game."
This years Minnesota Vikings defense will be reminiscent of the purple people eater days and Vikings fans are clamoring to get their Vikings Tickets to see it all unfold on the HHH Metrodome field. Minnesota Vikings Training CampThe Minnesota Vikings will once again hold training camp at Minnesota State College in Mankato, Minnesota. Here are a few key dates to mark in your calendars for the 2008 Vikings training camp:
July 23: Players report July 25: First practice August 8: Preseason opener: Minnesota Vikings vs Seattle Seahawks August 15: Camp breaks Vikings NFL Draft PicksThe Minnesota Vikings selected five players in the 2008 NFL Draft, the fewest in team history, thanks to the blockbuster Jared Allen deal that transpired last week that forced the Vikings to hand over three picks to the Kansas City Chiefs. With all 22 Vikings starters already in place and many of their backups essentially determined, the Vikings didn't need to make a lot of moves in the draft. Here are the 2008 Minnesota Vikings draft picks:
Jared Allen is newest Minnesota VikingThe Minnesota Vikings secured defensive end Jared Allen from the Kansas City Chiefs in a $74 million deal that makes Jared Allen the highest paid defensive player in the league. Allen will sport the purple and gold number 69 Vikings jersey for the next six years. The Vikings gave up a first and two third round draft picks in the trade. Bringing a star like Jared Allen into the Vikings organization right now is a message to Vikings fans that the Minnesota Vikings are committed to winning this season.
Jared Allen led the NFL in sacks last year with 15 1/2 sacks and this Minnesota Vikings fan looks forward to him putting the pass pressure on the opposing teams this Vikings season. Jared Allen is definitely another reason to buy Minnesota Vikings tickets today! Minnesota Vikings Schedule PreseasonThe Minnesota Vikings have released their 2008 Vikings preseason schedule and it includes home games vs. Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers. The first Metrodome home game is on Friday August 8th vs the Seattle Seahawks and the second is on Saturday August 23rd vs the Pittsburgh Steelers. The late August game will be during the 12 days of the Minnesota State Fair. If you are in town for the great Minnesota get together, stop over to the Metrodome Saturday night and see the Minnesota Vikings vs the Pittsburgh Steelers! Tickets start at less than $15 each! What a deal!
Minnesota Vikings Monday Night OpenerThe NFL announced that the Minnesota Vikings season opener will be vs the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay
on Monday, September 8th. The rival Vikings vs Packers game is sure to draw a big national TV audience and is generating a lot of excitement among Vikings players. Tickets to the Vikings Packers Monday night match-up are sure to go for top dollar, but you can count on this site to have Vikings Packers tickets even at the last minute. Now that the first Monday night games have been announced, you can bet the NFL will be releasing the rest of the Vikings schedule shortly. 2008 Minnesota Vikings CheerleadersAuditions for the 2008 Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader squad are right around the corner. The Minnesota Vikings and the NFL take the Cheerleading recruitment process very seriously. The first step for Vikings Cheerleader wannabes is a Vikings Cheerleader tryout workshop at Winter Park this Saturday.
Minnesota Vikings fans can get their first look at the potential new cheerleaders on April 29th at the Mall of America Rotunda. The final audition is open to the public and begins at 6:30pm. The selection of this seasons cheerleaders is just another sign that the start of 2008 Minnesota Vikings football is not that far away. Best of luck to this seasons cheerleaders!
Leslie Frazier assistant head coachThe Minnesota Vikings added "assistant head coach" to Leslie Fraziers title this week officially spotlighting his dual role with the Vikings. Vikings head Coach Brad Childress hired Frazier last year as defensive coordinator, but Fraziers role within the organization was much more than just a defensive guy. In fact, Leslie Frazier spent much of the past year advising coach Childress on "everything ... from top to bottom, on our roster." Although the additional title is largely ceremonial in the NFL, Frazier said it "kind of makes things official." As part of the title change, Leslie Frazier's contract was extended through the 2009 season.
Many Vikings fans are appreciative of the job Leslie Frazier does with the Vikings and will be excited to have him back for the upcoming Vikings Season! Brett Favre RetiresLast week brought big news to the NFL Community, Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre retired after 17 years in the National Football League. Favre cited "tired" as his reason for retiring. Brett Favre was one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks, but from a competitive standpoint, Favres retirement is good for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC. It will give the Vikings a chance to be ultra competitive in the NFC and when the Vikings win, fans will come out to games! I am excited for the Vikings season to begin!
Vikings tickets like this run down of Brett Favre's best and worst games vs. the Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings sign key players to rosterThe Minnesota Vikings have been busy signing key players for the 2008 Vikings season. The Vikings signed safety Madieu Williams to a six-year, $33 million contract to replace Dwight Smith. Other big moves by the Minnesota Vikings football team include signing former Minnesota Gopher Thomas Tapeh to a five-year, $6 million free-agent contract. Perhaps the biggest Vikings acquisition was the signing of wide receiver Bernard Berrian to a six-year, $42 million contract.
With all the new Vikings players, the 2008 Minnesota Vikings team will be stronger than ever! Be sure to check back to www.vikingstickets.com for all Minnesota Viking ticket updates!

Smith has spent two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and is a seven year NFL veteran. Smith will become an unrestricted free agent and will more than likely begin working on offers with other NFL teams before the free agency period signing begins on February 29th.
Smith had four interceptions last year with the Vikings, including a 93-yard touchdown against the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Vikings raise ticket pricesThe Minnesota Vikings have raised the face value of their tickets by 3% for the 2008 Vikings season. The price increase surprised many Vikings fans who still remember the difficult time the Vikings had selling out the Metrodome last year.

Minnesota Vikings Update on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Former Minnesota Viking Gary Zimmerman was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last week, but Minnesota Viking Cris Carter was not. Zimmerman was one of six players selected for the Class of 2008, while Carter and former Vikings guard Randall McDaniel made the final 10 but were eliminated in the final cutdown.
Zimmerman spent seven of his 12 NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, earning three Pro Bowl invitations. He spent the remaining 5 season with the Denver Broncos where he made the Pro Bowl five more times and earned a Super Bowl ring.
Many Minnesota Vikings fans were surprised that Cris Carter didn't make the cut, but there is always next year and it really is an honor to be nominated. This Vikings fan looks forward to seeing "CC" on next years class list! Super Bowl Champion New York Giants at the Metrodome in 2008The Minnesota Vikings will play the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants at the Metrodome Minneapolis in 2008. The official game date has not been announced, but you can count on it being a hot Vikings ticket. In addition to hosting Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and the Giants, the Vikings will also host past Super Bowl MVP and Eli's big brother, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Be sure to check back to vikingstickets.com for Vikings schedule updates and the best Vikings tickets!
Giants win the Super BowlThe New York Giants won Super Bowl XLII in Phoenix on Sunday in what is being called one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. The Giants beat the New England Patriots by a score of 17-14 in front of a record 97.5 million United States TV viewers.
Had the Patriots won the game, they would have completed a perfect season, the first since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, and the only one since the league expanded to a 16-game regular season in 1978. The Patriots were 12 point favorites at kick-off, but it was a battle of the defenses that no one expected.
It seemed strange to many Minnesota Vikings fans that the New York Giants were in the playoffs and we weren't because Minnesota beat the New York Giants during the regular season 41-17 at the Meadowlands. It just goes to show strong play at the end of the season really does pay off in the NFL. Although 80 to 90 million Americans will be watching from their living room sofas, 70,000 die hard NFL fans will be sitting in the stands of the University Of Phoenix stadium.
Vikingstickets.com is a trusted source for all NFL games including Super Bowl tickets. If you are planning on heading to sunny Arizona, buy Super Bowl tickets and enjoy the game. Plan on spending a minimum of $3,300 per ticket, but it will be a chance of a lifetime to see the New England Patriots try for a perfect season and watch the New York Giants prove that an underdog can prevail in the Grand Canyon State. First Cottrell, now possibly FrazierMinnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is in talks with the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons for a head coaching position, but rumor says he is content with his current position with the Vikings. The Vikings were once again one of the top NFL defenses in 2007. Teams had a lot of difficulty running the ball against them, and the secondary was severely underestimated. So can the Vikings afford to lose another exceptional defensive coordinator?
Ted Cottrell started the Vikings trend of a solid rushing defense, and he immediately left to be the defensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers. Leslie Frazier seems a bit more likely to stay put here in Minnesota, however. The Vikings solid defensive play can continue if we don't let another great coach get away. Packers move on to NFC Championship gameThe Minnesota Vikings didn't make the playoffs, but NFC North rival Green Bay Packers are hotter than ever right now. The Packers will host the San Diego Chargers at Lambeau field this Sunday January 20th in the NFC Championship game.
Packers tickets are hard to come by, but www.vikingstickets.com has plenty of NFC Championship game tickets available so call today or order securely online 24 hours a day. Vikings lose to Denver, End Season 8-8The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Denver Broncos last night and ended their season 8-8. The overtime loss, topped off by a Washington Redskins victory over Dallas officially ended any hope for a Vikings playoff game.
The Vikings lost 19-22 after the Denver Broncos kicked a 30 yard field goal in overtime at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The Vikings fought hard overcoming a 19-3 fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, but Tarvaris Jackson fumbled the ball on the second play of overtime giving the Broncos the game.
"I love the way we fought back in the fourth quarter, but once again turnovers killed us," Vikings linebacker Ben Leber said. "It seems to be our Achilles' heel, and until we get that shored up and figured out, we're not going to be much better of a team next year."
Vikings fans have confidence that changes will be made in the Vikings offseason that will help next seasons Vikings team to be better than 8-8.
Be sure to check back to VikingsTickets.com throughout the offseason for player updates and exclusive Vikings Ticket deals! Happy New Year Vikings Fans! Vikings playoff hopes still aliveThe Vikings could have secured a playoff spot with a victory last Sunday, but now they must beat the Denver Broncos on the road in their regular season finale and the Vikings must rely on the Dallas Cowboys to beat the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in Maryland. The Washington Dallas game is scheduled to start at 3:15pm on Sunday December 30th just like the Denver Minnesota game. You can bet Vikings fans will be keeping an eye on both games. Check back to http://www.vikingstickets.com/ to get the latest Vikings playoff updates. Go Vikings!
Vikings lose to Redskins
The Washington Redskins held Adrian Peterson to 27 yards on nine carries and Chester Taylor finished with a mere 14 yards on six carries. Tarvaris Jackson gave up several turnovers that ultimately gave the Redskins points and momentum to win the game. The Vikings folded under pressure and there is no doubt in this Vikings fans mind that a serious review of the quarterback position and the offense in general is needed. The Vikings travel to Denver to take on the Broncos on Sunday December 30 in the final game of the regualr season. Let's hope the Vikings playoff ship hasn't already sailed. Vikings play Redskins Sunday nightRemember Vikings fans, the Minnesota Vikings Washington Redskins game is at 7:15pm on Sunday December 23rd. The NFL used their flex scheduling rights to move the game to prime time. There are still plenty of great tickets left for the game so bring your family and friends and head out to the Dome. Vikings beat Chicago BearsThe Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome last night 20-13. It wasn't the most exciting Monday Night Football game of the season, but Vikings fans held their breath through the finish and were elated the Vikings won. Once again the Vikings defense was top notch and held the Bears to a mere 32 yards rushing. The game would not have been so close, but the Vikings offense was shaky and gave up several turnovers that resulted in Chicago Bears points.
The Vikings control their own playoff destiny and just need to keep winning in order to secure and NFC playoff spot. S'kol Vikings! Vikings Bears Tickets The Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears game on Monday night December 17th is a hot Vikings ticket. The game is sold out through the Vikings organization, but independent ticket brokers like Vikingstickets.com still have great tickets. This hot hot game is important to the Vikings playoff picture and the Bears would love to spoil the Vikings chances. The Monday night game is probably one of the most important games for the Vikings this season. If you waited to the last minute to buy Vikings Bears tickets you will have to dish out $90 per ticket, but it's a game no Vikings fan will want to miss.Washington Redskins game time changeHey Vikings fans, the NFL has moved the December 23rd Washington Redskins game to a 7pm start time. It was a noon game, but since it will probably be a pivotal game in deciding the wildcard spot, the NFL used its flex scheduling powers to move the game to prime time. Buy your Vikings Redskins tickets today and bring the family for some holiday fun and football in Minneapolis!
Vikings beat San Francisco on the roadThe Minnesota Vikings beat the San Francisco 49ers 27-7 and moved to a 7-6 record, sixth in the NFC playoff picture. It is so great to see this entire Minnesota Vikings team playing well. Tarvaris Jackson looked strong the first half and Chester Taylor racked up 101 yards rushing. The Vikings defense played exceptionally well and actually put the Vikings on the scoreboard first. Next up for the Vikings is the Chicago Bears in a NFC North battle played out on national TV for Monday Night football. S'kol Vikings!
Vikings beat LionsThe Minnesota Vikings won big over the Detroit Lions beating the NFC North rival at the Metrodome on Sunday. The Vikings beat the Lions 42-10. The win was big for the Vikings as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Be sure to check back to VikingsTickets.com for your Vikings playoff tickets!
Vikings vs Lions at MetrodomeWith only a few Metrodome home games left, Vikings fans will want to make their plans now to see the Vikings team live on the HHH Metrodome turf. The Vikings will face the Detroit Lions Sunday December 2nd at noon in a pivotal game that could determine a future Wildcard playoff spot.
What? The Vikings in the Playoffs? You betcha! There is still a chance the Minnesota Vikings will be a part of the NFL post season. Adrian Peterson should be back on the field ready to run all day for the purple so buy your Vikings tickets today! Upcoming Vikings Games
First up: the New York Giants (7-3), followed by the Detroit Lions (6-4) at the Metrodome. After that, the Vikings face the San Francisco 49ers (2-7), Chicago Bears (4-6) at home, Washington Redskins (5-5)at the Dome and finish the season at the Denver Broncos (4-5).
The complete Vikings Schedule is available. Minnesota Vikings beat Oakland RaidersThe Minnesota Vikings beat the Oakland Raiders 29-22 at the Metrodome on Sunday in front of 62,960 fans. The game was a nail biter between two ailing NFL teams. My favorite play of the game came in the opening drive when Chester Taylor took the handoff and headed left. But he flipped the ball to rookie receiver Sidney Rice, who was headed to the right. Rice heaved a 60-yard pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe. By the time he was dragged down, Shiancoe had a 79-yard reception, the longest in team history by a tight end, and Taylor ran it in for a touchdown from 10 yards out on the next play. It was a great way to start a Minnesota Vikings game.
With Vikings rookie Adrian Peterson sidelined, veteran running back Chester Taylor paced the Vikings' run offense with 164 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson generated a season-high 171 yards passing against a Raiders pass defense that entered the game ranked fourth in the NFL. Raiders quarterback, former Vikings quarterback, Daunte Culpepper completed 23 of 39 passes for 344 yards. Culpepper returns to MetrodomeBe sure to buy your Vikings Oakland Raiders tickets and see Daunte Culpepper back at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. Culpepper will be the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders and says he is looking forward to playing in front of the "wild Vikings fans." The Vikings are in desperate need of a win and I am sure Coach Childress will not want to see Culpepper have a good day. The two parted under tense conditions and it's no secret that Culpepper didn't mesh with the coach or even Vikings fans after the Vikings boat scandal. I am sure there will be plenty of fans pumped to jeer Culpepper and I am sure we will see a few purple Culpepper jerseys dusted off for this game and maybe a few skipper hats as well. Let's go Vikings!
Vikings elude Blackout againThe Minnesota Vikings have managed to avoid a TV blackout for the third time this year. Miller Brewing company teamed up with WCCO-TV to buy the remaining 2,000 tickets for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, but don't sit home Vikings fans - buy some cheap Vikings Tickets and meet us at the Metrodome for a Vikings Raiders match-up!
Minnesota Vikings lose to Green Bay PackersThe Vikings lost to the Packers 34-0 at Lambeau Field last Sunday. Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packer offense seemed unstoppable as Favre threw for over 300 yards for the second time against the Vikings this season. The win improved Green Bay to 8-1 and slid the Vikings to 3-6.
A suffocating Packers defense held Minnesota to just 247 total net yards and shut down Adrian Peterson. The poor Vikings performance was further dismal as Peterson left the game with a knee injury in the third quarter. Along with not being able to run the ball, Minnesota couldn't get the passing game going, either. Vikings quarterback Brooks Bollinger finished the game going 16 of 26 for 176 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
The Minnesota Vikings will play the Oakland Raiders at the Metrodome this Sunday. Vikings Tickets are less than $15! Buy your cheap Vikings tickets today! Vikings gear up for Packer gameThe Minnesota Vikings travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. The Vikings will need to step up the pass defense if they intend to shut down Brett Favre on his home turf. In Week 4 at the Metrodome, the Vikings allowed Favre to go 32 of 45 for 344 yards and two touchdowns, including his record-setting 421st career scoring throw.
"We would like to be more successful this time and as I talked to you about, we have got to be better with our pass rush," Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress said. "It's still going to start with stopping the run for us but the pass rush, coverage, attempting to get after a guy that is pretty good with the ball in his hand as a passer and knows how to get it out of his hand."
Besides shutting down Favre, the Vikings also have to put their own points on the board. It looks like Brooks Bollinger will get the nod at quarterback and using Adrian Peterson for the run and Sidney Rice for the pass will be key to the Vikings success. Good luck at Lambeau, boys! Play the Packers tough! Vikings quarterback controversy continuesThe Minnesota Vikings are notorious for having quarterback controversies and this year is no exception. "Who will play this weekend, coach?" Has been the classic question from local media mid-week and this week the quarterback situation remains unstable.
Coach Childress said on Wednesday that Tarvaris Jackson willl continue to try and recover from the concussion he suffered last Sunday against the Chargers. The next step in the recovery process, according to Coach Childress, is to get Jackson out on the practice field. Jackson's availability for the rest of the week and for this Sunday against the Packers is up in the air. Coach Childress did confirm that if Jackson was unable to go against Green Bay, Brooks Bollinger would start in his place.
To further complicate the quarterback mayhem, the Vikings signed Koy Detmer. Of course it could've been worse - the Vikings also worked out Chris Weinke. But Detmer is, naturally, "familiar with the system" by virtue of having been with the Eagles. So he's in. This Vikings fan hopes Brooks Bollinger can take Lambeau field by storm!
Let's go Vikings! Adrian Peterson named NFC Offensive Player of the WeekStar Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his 296 yards rushing performance in last Sundays win over the San Diego Chargers. Peterson set a new NFL record, breaking former Baltimore Ravens running back Jamal Lewis' mark of 295 set in 2003.
"It's an honor and it says a lot about those guys blocking for me in the line and the receivers doing a great job sealing the edge," Peterson said. "I'm humbled to have the rushing record, but more importantly it comes in a win that we really needed to get the second half of the season started the right way."
This is the second time this season that Peterson has been selected as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week; he also earned the honor for his 224 yard performance at Soldier Field vs. Chicago. He currently leads the NFL in rushing with 1,036 yards. It's nice to have a star player to brag about in Vikings country. Congrats Adrian, well deserved! Vikings beat Chargers in best game of the seasonThe Minnesota Vikings beat the San Diego Chargers on Sunday at the HHH Metrodome 35-17. The game logged 2 NFL records, one for the NFL's single-game rushing record thanks to Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's 296 yard day and a second record for the longest field goal return (109 yds by Charger Antonio Cromartie ) thanks to poor work by the Vikings field goal unit.
Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson got hurt again, and backup Brooks Bollinger looked solid in the second half handing the ball off to Adrian Peterson and throwing a 40-yard touchdown pass to Sidney Rice. The Vikings defense did their job as well and even forced Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers to throw 10 incomplete passes in a row.
The star of the game was clearly Adrian Peterson who also tied the team record for most rushing touchdowns in a game with 3, he joins Vikings legend Chuck Foreman as the only Viking in franchise history to rush for 3 touchdowns in a game more than once. Adrian Peterson has what it takes to keep this franchise alive, so let's hope he plays often, plays well and stays healthy. Tarvaris Jackson will start on SundayLocal news is reporting that Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will be the starting quarterback for Sundays Vikings San Diego Chargers game. The Chargers are ranked 7th in the AFC and the Vikings will need more than home field advantage to win the big game on Sunday. Tarvaris Jackson will need to be 100% ready and in control of the Vikings offense. I will see you at the Dome, Vikings fans!
Vikings Blackout DangerFor the second time this year, the Minnesota Vikings are in danger of a TV blackout. The Vikings need to sell around 2,000 tickets before the Thursday noon deadline set by the NFL. If the Vikings achieve the goal, the Chargers game will be the Vikings 100th consecutive sell-out. The NFL requires that Vikings sell 62,000 tickets to consider the Metrodome a sold out venue. It is suspected that WCCO-TV, who has the broadcasting rights to this game, will work out a plan to meet the ticket goal. There are still plenty of great seats left, buy your Vikings Chargers tickets today!
Vikings lose to Philadelphia EaglesThe Minnesota Vikings lost to the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday 23-16 at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was no match for the Vikings defense. McNabb, who completed 23 of 36 passes for 333 yards with one touchdown and no turnovers, converted several clutch plays, most notably a 31-yard pass to receiver Kevin Curtis midway through the fourth quarter. Although he doesn't appear as mobile as he was earlier in his career, McNabb was nimble enough to avoid pass rushers and complete clutch passes.
The Vikings offense had no spark of their own as Vikings starting quarterback Kelly Holcomb threw for a mere 88 yards before being injured. Back-up, back-up quarterback Brooks Bollinger then came in and tried his best to fire up the offense, but it wasn't enough to score even one touchdown. With the exception of a few Adrian Peterson bursts that totaled a disappointing 70 yards, the Vikings offense lacked explosion, especially at key times, and was unable to finish drives with touchdowns.
Let's hope the Vikings can regroup their offense and figure out how to penetrate the goal line when they take on the San Diego Chargers next Sunday at the Metrodome. There are still plenty of cheap Vikings tickets for sale! Vikings play Eagles at MetrodomeThe Minnesota Vikings will take on the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome Minneapolis. This is the only Vikings home game during the month of October. Like the Vikings, the Eagles are a disappointing 2-4, but they bring with them a talented offensive line, Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook, Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb and young receiver Reggie Brown, who last season had 816 receiving yards and scored nine touchdowns.
The Vikings really need a win on their home turf, but they will have to shut down a hungry Eagles squad. There
We will see you at the Dome! S'kol Vikings! S'kol! Vikings lose to CowboysThe Minnesota Vikings lost to the Dallas Cowboys 24-14 in Dallas on Sunday. It was a typical Vikings fan roller coaster ride. Strong early, stammer late and then a loss to top it all off. It was a warm 85 degrees in Dallas and probably ten degrees hotter on the artificial turf, but all that heat wasn't enough to tire the Dallas boys out or put a fire under our Minnesota Vikings. Tarvaris Jackson did not perform well (6 for 19, 72 yards) and rookie running back Adrian Peterson did not get the on-field opportunities he deserved. The Vikings ran 49 plays and Peterson was only in 13 of them. Peterson is clearly THE MAN of the Vikings offense and players and fans alike are tired of not seeing the number 28 Peterson jersey on the field. The Minnesota Vikings 2-4 record is not reflective of the talent on this team and coach Brad Childress needs to salvage the rest of this Vikings season quickly.
Vikings Beat NFC North Rival BearsThe Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears last Sunday at Soldier Field 34-31. Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell booted a career high 55-yard field goal as time expired to secure the game for the Vikings, but the real story of the day was Vikings rookie running back, Adrian Peterson. Peterson rushed for 224 yards on just 20 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings. There is no doubt that Adrian Peterson jerseys will be flying off Vikings apparel shelves. Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson, coming off a groin strain, had no turnovers and played relatively well for the Vikings.
Next up for the Vikings football team is a tough match-up against the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. The Cowboys are coming off their first loss of the season, but are a solid Super Bowl contender team. The Minnesota Vikings defense will definitely be tested by Cowboys QB Tony Romo. Let's go Vikings! Vikings Lose To Packers, Use Bye Week to RecoverThe Minnesota Vikings lost to the Green Bay Packers and for Vikings fans it was a disappointing day. For Green Bay Packers fans it was a day that history was made as Packer quarterback Brett Favre broke Dan Marino's NFL touchdown record. The Vikings had trouble finding the End Zone and lost the game 23-16 in front of a sell out Metrodome crowd. After a much needed Bye week to regroup the team, the Minnesota Vikings should be ready to go when they face NFC North rival Chicago Bears at Soldier Field this Sunday. The next Vikings home game is the ONLY home game in the month of October on Sunday the 28th vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. We will see you at the Dome! Holcomb Chosen, Vikes lose to ChiefsThe Minnesota Vikings gave Kelly Holcomb the nod to play in the Kansas City Chiefs game yesterday. Holcomb went 14 for 28 as the Vikes let the Chiefs steal the game away losing 13-10. Minnesota led for much of the game but failed to answer a late Chiefs touchdown.
I think the best and then ultimately most disappointing moment/drive was when Chad Greenway recovered a fumble on the Chiefs 33 yard line and then three plays later Mewelde Moore took a handoff and lobbed a pass to Visanthe Shiancoe that appeared to be a touchdown. The official ruled that Shiancoe was unable to cradle the ball without it hitting the ground, prompting the Vikings to challenge. The ruling was upheld, however, and the Vikings had to settle for field goal. Other mishaps plagued the Vikings including Adrian Peterson fumbling two plays in a row and Holcomb overthrowing a wide open Robert Ferguson on what would've been an easy touchdown. The Vikings had many opportunities to win the game, but came up short. Let's hope the Vikings can practice all week and get ready to fight the Packers next Sunday at home. Vikings Wait to Annouce QuarterbackWith Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson still hurt from last Sunday's game, Brad Childress is forced to pick a new starter for the Kansas City Chiefs game this Sunday. Both Brooks Bollinger and Kelly Holcomb have had playing time on the Vikings offense, but Childress is keeping quiet about his choice. Most sports sources point to quarterback Kelly Holcomb to get the nod. Holcomb, 34, who was acquired in late August from Philadelphia for a sixth-round pick in 2009, is familiar with the West Coast offense the Vikings use. Along with his offensive experience, the 11-year veteran has 21 career starts and a strong arm so Childress thinks any transition to starter will be smooth. Vikings fans will be holding their breath until the official quarterback decision is made and probably won't let out the sigh of relief until the Vikings beat the Chiefs on Sunday.
Vikings Lose to LionsThe Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions both started Sunday atop the NFC North, but by the end of the game neither team would look like a legitimate contender. The game was littered with turnovers and horrendous offenses. It was a game of who
wanted to lose worst and it finally ended when Lions kicker Jason Hanson booted a 37-yard field goal in overtime to give the Lions a 20-17 victory.
The Vikings offense showed that they still had much growing up to do. Tarvaris Jackson still needs to work on quick decision making including when to scramble and when to stay in the pocket. Jackson left the game with a reported groin injury. The Vikings were also guilty of 12 penalties - the worst probably being a Kevin Williams off-sides call on a 4th down, which ultimately allowed Detroit to kick a field goal and take a 10-7 lead into the half.
The Vikings defense once again looked top notch. A pick by Darren Sharper ended a potential Detroit scoring drive in the first and the next drive was stalled when Lions QB Jon Kitna stumbled and was sacked by Kenechi Udeze. Despite the officials overlooking a lot of Lions offensive holding, the Minnesota Vikings defense came out on top.
The Vikings will try to regroup next weekend against the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas. Vikings beat Atlanta FalconsThe Minnesota Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener at the Metrodome Minneapolis on Sunday. The Vikings defense looked amazing and the offense was able to hold its own to easily beat the Falcons 24-3. Rookie Vikings running back Adrian Peterson held the audiences attention from start to finish. In the first quarter, Peterson started on the field as the deep returnman on opening kickoff. In the fourth quarter, Peterson erupted with 7:19 remaining in the game. Peterson took a swing pass from quarterback Tarvaris Jackson 60 yards for his first NFL score.
The Vikings defense was led by defensive tackle Kevin Williams who recorded an interception in the first quarter and ran 54 yards for a touchdown. The fans in the Metrodome did a nice job on defense as well. On two occasions in the 2nd quarter Falcons quarterback Joey Harrington tried to audible at the line but was forced to burn a time out due to the crowd noise level. Way to go Vikings fans! Next up is a road trip to Detroit to play the Lions. Let's hope the Vikings can keep the positive momentum and beat our division rival. Vikings Opener BroadcastThe Minnesota Vikings announced that the home opener vs. the Atlanta Falcons will be broadcast on Fox 9 TV as originally planned. Apparently, Fox decided to buy the remaining tickets and donate them to a charity in order to avoid the blackout.
The opener at the HHH Metrodome should be a great game and Vikings fans shouldn't just settle for sitting on the coach. Buy your Vikings Tickets now and pick them up a block from the Metrodome before the game! Come down even earlier for some great Viking tailgating! Go Vikes! Vikings on verge of BlackoutI was reading over on http://www.vikingsfootballhome.blogspot.com/, the Vikings blog of Vikings fan Vikings Vixen that the Minnesota Vikings still need to sell over 3,000 tickets to the home opener vs. the Atlanta Falcons or the game will be blacked out in the major TV viewing area. The NFL requires that
Vikings sell 62,000 tickets to consider the Metrodome a sell-out and in years past large corporations have came in and bought large blocks of tickets in order to keep the game televised. However, no corporation has stepped forward yet and the Vikings only have until Thursday (9/6) at noon to sell the tickets to the September 9th game. Vikings fans, the home opener is sure to be an exciting game so buy your Vikings tickets now! Childress gives Jackson starting nodNot like the Minnesota Vikings had much of a choice, but head coach Brad Childress named quarterback Tarvaris Jackson to the starting job on Monday after practice. The quarterback received the news with little surprise, and went about his business like normal. So far this preseason, it has seemed like Jackson could get the job done at the position this season. He hasn't thrown a touchdown yet, but he hasn't necessarily received the chances to. He has a passer rating of 76.8 and has only committed one turnover on a fumbled snap. The Vikings acquired another possible backup quarterback on Monday in Kelly Holcomb, pushing Jackson to perform with even greater precision. With Brooks Bollinger struggling in the preseason, Holcomb could very well be next in line behind Jackson. Jackson should get more passing downs SaturdayTarvaris Jackson has only thrown the ball 15 times with 10 completions in two preseason games, but Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress insists he isn't worried according to Don Seeholzer of the Pioneer Press. Hopefully, the Vikings coaching staff will get a better chance to see their probably starting quarterback in Saturday night's game at the Seattle Seahawks. The cause for concern stemmed from a very limited role by Jackson in last Friday's matchup with the New York Jets. In that game, the Vikings defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter, and Jackson ended the game with only 2 of 4 passes completed for 12 yards. Childress said he won't force passes out of Jackson on Saturday night by calling more passing plays; he said he will call whatever plays it takes to win.
Vikings eyeing another former PackerThe Green Bay Packers released veteran wide receiver Robert Ferguson last week, perking the interests of the Minnesota Vikings. Ferguson worked out for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon at Winter Park. He could become another in a line of ex-Packer players
who crossed the border to the Vikings including Darren Sharper and Ryan Longwell. Sharper is actually a huge proponent of a reunion with Ferguson. "He's been in the fire," Sharper said in a Pioneer Press article. "Knows the offense. And he brings that experience. And he makes plays in this league."
Although the Viking's roster is full of receiver hopefuls, the aspect of signing Ferguson is appealing to the Vikings because the club needs greater experience at the position. Ferguson is a solid receiver, but he has had sever injury problems in his career. Ferguson hasn't played a whole season since the 2002 campaign. Right now, however, it appears the Vikings have nothing to lose if they can sign Ferguson at bargain basement price. Jason Glenn RetiresMinnesota Vikings head Coach Brad Childress announced that Vikings linebacker Jason Glenn has decided to retire after being unable to get his aching knees completely healthy. Glenn has been performing well on special teams and Childress praised his determination, leadership and work ethic. At Vikings training camp, Jason Glenn gave it his all and was hoping to be inked in as one of the Vikings backup linebackers. Glenn spent the first two weeks looking relatively healthy, but Coach Childress says Glenn's knees were aching all along. Childress remarked to the press that he hopes to see Jason Glenn return to the Vikings team in a player-development role. Read about Jason Glenn's career on www.vikingstickets.com/JasonGlenn
Vikings execute in first preseason effortEverything looked good for the Minnesota Vikings last Friday night, as the team played its first preseason game of the 2007 campaign. Key players performed well, including quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger, running back Adrian Peterson and linebacker Dontarrious Thomas.
Jackson was consistent and effective, averaging over ten yards per pass. He went 8-11 for 83 yards, and encouraging sign that he might be doing more this season than merely dropping the ball over the middle for short gains. Peterson played despite a minor hip injury. He rushed 11 times and gained 33 yards, not exactly the production the Vikings wanted but his volume was solid. Bollinger got the job done working as Jackson’s backup in the game. He completed four-of-six passes for 23 yards.
But perhaps the play of the game for the Vikings came when Thomas picked off a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings were briefly ahead until the Rams tied the game at 10-10 in the fourth quarter. The Rams then went on to win the game on a last second field goal by Rams’ kicker Kevin Lovell. Edwards is an angry manThe Minnesota Vikings have seemed to find a guy that would be perfect for an NFL defensive line, that is, a guy that you might find in a prison recreation yard pumping iron for eight hours a day, getting into and winning every fight he incites and murdering people on the prison football field like that big ugly guy in "The Longest Yard."
That guy just might be Ray Edwards, whom the Vikings |
