On June 3, 2008, Barack Obama delivered a speech in the Xcel a day after becoming the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee. The Xcel Energy Center was abuzz with political activity in August and September 2008 when it becomes the hub of the Republican National Convention. This huge event drew thousands of politicans, journalists, supporters, and protesters to St. Paul, Minnesota...and the Xcel Energy Center was the center of it all.
