Though the coaching staff and team was strong, several names pop out as especially integral to the team's success. Head coach, Mike Tomlin, was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for his second season and fans voted him as the Motorola Coach of the Year. James Harrison, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, was recognized as the NFL's defensive player of the year because of his strides and yards gained on the field.

How about their opponents? Well, in 2008, the Minnesota Vikings finished the season with a 10-6 record and also won the NFC North title. However, they lost in a wild card game to the Philadelphia Eagles (26-14).
