Vikings NFL Draft Picks

By Vikings Tickets (04/30/2008 11:29 AM)

The Minnesota Vikings selected five players in the 2008 NFL Draft, the fewest in team history, thanks to the blockbuster Jared Allen deal that transpired last week that forced the Vikings to hand over three picks to the Kansas City Chiefs. With all 22 Vikings starters already in place and many of their backups essentially determined, the Vikings didn't need to make a lot of moves in the draft. Here are the 2008 Minnesota Vikings draft picks:

  • Safety Tyrell Johnson (Arkansas State )
  • Quarterback John David Booty (Southern Cal)
  • Defensive Tackle Letroy Guion (Florida State)
  • Center John Sullivan (Notre Dame)
  • Receiver Jaymar Johnson (Jackson State)

Jared Allen is newest Minnesota Viking

By Minnesota Vikings Fan (04/24/2008 12:15 PM)

The Minnesota Vikings secured defensive end Jared Allen from the Kansas City Chiefs in a $74 million deal that makes Jared Allen the highest paid defensive player in the league. Allen will sport the purple and gold number 69 Vikings jersey for the next six years. The Vikings gave up a first and two third round draft picks in the trade. Bringing a star like Jared Allen into the Vikings organization right now is a message to Vikings fans that the Minnesota Vikings are committed to winning this season.

Jared Allen led the NFL in sacks last year with 15 1/2 sacks and this Minnesota Vikings fan looks forward to him putting the pass pressure on the opposing teams this Vikings season. Jared Allen is definitely another reason to buy Minnesota Vikings tickets today!
